NEWSPAPER ARTICLE: “Tomorrow Came for Them,” Associated Press ArticleThis Associated Press article appeared in at least 16 other newspapers across the United States and in Canada the week of December 13, 1970. Most publications truncated the article somewhat but the Cedar Rapids Gazette version includes the full set of comments on world’s fair buildings located in the US. The author describes, briefly, the fate of landmark buildings constructed for some of the more famous world’s fairs. The US fairs covered are: Philadelphia (1876), Chicago (1893), St. Louis (1904), Chicago (1933), Seattle (1962) and New York (1964). The piece also comments on the fate of a few world’s fair structures in Europe and Canada. The Cedar Rapids Gazette ran a photo of the “Unisphere,” built for the 1964 fair in New York, with the article.
