Traditional Literature

Folklore and Myths

Preface Statement

Traditional literature binds us together as a people; its stories chronical our creation, our spirituality, our psychology, and our explanation of the inexplicable. The roots of all modern literature are held firmly in traditional literature: every culture's oral folktale tradition has contributed from all around the world. Myths, legends, fairy tales, and fables delight young and old. When we understand a culture's history, not only our own, we develop global empathy and interest. Plus, the tales are purely delightful--an entertaining mix of belief and imagination. As human beings, we are proud of our unique selves; however, we find security and camaraderie--a sense of belonging--through our archetypal connections.
