Non-renewable energy is sources of energy that cannot be replaced once it is used as energy. Non-renewable energy sources come from the ground in the form of a gas, liquid, or solid. These sources include:
-Coal
-Natural Gas
-Oil and petroleum products
-Nuclear Energy
It is important to understand that some non-renewable energy sources are called fossil fuels. These include petroleum, coal, natural gas, and propane gas because they were formed by buried plants and animals that lived millions of years ago.
Nuclear energy (uranium ore) is mined and convereted for fuel in nuclear plants. While it is a non-renewable energy source, it is not a fossil fuel.
