Rosaline is the gorgeous and aloof woman Romeo crushes on until he meets the love of his life, Juliet. Rosaline has no speaking part, never appears on stage (according to the stage directions), and isn't even listed in the dramatis personae (the cast list).
Rosaline is the woman with whom Romeo is infatuated at the beginning of the play. Rosaline never appears onstage, but it is said by other characters that she is very beautiful and has sworn to live a life of chastity.
