The American Flag

The United States flag is red, white and blue.  It has 50 starts, 13 red and white stripes.  The stars represent the 50 United States, and the 13 stripes represent the original 13 American colonies.  The red is for courage and the white is for innocence and blue is for perseverance.  No one knows for certain who designed or made the first flag but may people think that Betsy Ross made the first flag.

Statue of Liberty


The Statue of Liberty is cooper structure found on liberty Island in the New York Harbor.  That statue's complete name is Liberty Enlightening the World.  The people of France gave the Statue of Liberty to the people of the United States in 1884.  It was a gift to express friendship and of the ideal of liberty shared by the French and the people of the United States.  Frederic Auguste Bartholdi designed the statue.

Bald Eagle

The bald eagle is one of the largest, most powerful birds in the world.  In 1782, the Founding Fathers chose this bird to be the national bird of the United States.  Here's an interesting fact: Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird.

The White House the President's house.  The address to the White House is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C.  This is where the President lives and works.  Millions of people visit the White House.  There are many parts of the mansion that are open to the public.
