UWSSLEC is a formal virtual department agreed among Whitewater, Madison and Oshkosh. Eau Claire and Superior were members while they had on-campus programs. Permanent faculty collaborate to prepare teachers as school library information and technology specialists who take leadership roles in their schools.
UWSSLEC offers high quality, peer relationships and reduced commuting. Choose a home base, but work with faculty from each institution and with other teachers from across the state. Each semester, take one hybrid distance course and spend a weekend with professional colleagues at the campus offering the course.
UWSSLEC interests you? Check tabs in the menu. See how to how to apply for admission, choose your campus, what technology you need, when courses are offered and how to register for courses. Registration, finances, and all records are maintained at your home base. Welcome!
The UWSSLEC Anniversary Grant, in honor of the University of Wisconsin System School Library Education Consortium's twentieth year of successful education of school library media specialists was awarded to 12 alumni of the program. These proposals demonstrated the values of the program: innovation, inquiry, technology, collaboration, and student learning. Check out presentations at the 2017 WEMTA conference (March 19-21) from many of these grant recipients.
