Emerging Roles of Librarians Workshops

In June 2014, there were three events for teachers interested in becoming school librarians titled Emerging Roles of Librarians:  Technology, Collaboration and Resources.  These day-long sessions, created and implemented by exemplary Wisconsin school librarians, introduced participants to the evolving roles of the librarian:  collaborator with staff to develop 21st century skills, teacher of students and staff, technology mentor, supporter of student literacy development, resource expert, and much more.  Participants learned strategies they could use in their classrooms right away as well as how to earn the Wisconsin 902 license.   They heard about the potential of the job and gathered information to take back to their school district on 21st century library programs and the roles a certified professional can play in supporting teachers and student learning.

The workshop website, Emerging Roles of Librarians, provides resources on collaboration and inquiry, supporting students; personal needs and interest, and leadership.
