The Potawatomi, or Keeper of the Fire, belong to an Alliance known as the "Three Fires" that was started long ago by three brothers. They originally settled along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Forest County Potawatomi live in southern Forest County, Northern Oconto County, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
In 1851, Simon Kahquados, last known Chief of the Wisconsin Potawatomi was born at Black Earth Village in Kewaunee County.
The Forest County Potawatomi run the Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee and the Potawatomi Bingo Northern Lights Casino in Carter, Wisconsin.
