BOOK: Omaha's Trans-Mississippi Exposition by Jess R. PetersonThis selection from the Images of America series focuses on the Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition that was held in Omaha, Nebraska in 1898. It was written by Jess R. Peterson, a local historian in Omaha, and includes archival photographs and descriptions of each building at the exposition. The majority of the pictures were taken from the Omaha Public Library Collection titled “Trans-Mississippi & International Exposition,” a collection of images photographed by the fair’s official photographer Frank A. Rinehart. The book also gives detailed accounts of the architecture of the structures as well as the survival of specific buildings after the exposition was completed.
