Battles during the Civil War were horrible affairs. Many soldiers were killed or wounded each time the sides fought. Many more either died later or lost limbs from their wounds due to poor medical treatment and infection or disease.
Below is a list of the 10 bloodiest battles of the War of the Confederacy along with the number of casualties suffered.

A CASUALTY is a military person lost through death, wounds, injury, sickness, internment, or capture or through being missing in action.
