Professional Development- Web 2.0: Apply Your Learning

This LibGuide is for teachers with limited computer experience to get up to speed on web 2.0 tools.

Incorporating Social Media into Your Lessons

Social Media began as a trend for teenagers and young adults.  However, now may be incorporated into your classes to enhance participation in class.  Read these articles to learn how to incorporate social media into your work, amongst your peers and your students!

Share Your Success!

As a final project, you will need to develop at least one lesson plan incorporating a blog or a wiki.  You may make use of the blog or wiki at any stage of your lesson.  The lesson should include: an anticipatory set, step by step procedure, closure and assessment.  Attach your lesson plan on our wiki, along with a short summary of your lesson.  Also, copy and paste the URL of your blog or wiki in this box.

Twitter in the Classroom

Some quick ideas for using Twitter in your classroom:

1.  Give your students (or parents) your 'teacher' twitter account URL. Then use this to easily communicate quick reminders about homework or tests. They don't need a twitter account to see your tweets.

2.  Have students use @replies to return questions to the teacher. This allows everyone to see the questions and the responses!

Remember: All info you put on twitter can be seen by anyone, unless you use the DM option to Direct Message another twitter user.
