Exploring Hobbies (Design Test): Knitting

A guide to help you explore and share about hobbies.

Welcome

Knitting is a hobby I really enjoy. I started learning a few years ago from my mother-in-law, and am constantly amazed at what can be done with two sticks and some string. So far my projects have been pretty simple - scarves, washcloths, shawls, coffee cup sleeves, a tea cozy - but I hope to eventually make sweaters, skirts, and lots of fun things.

Something I've noticed about knitting is that it helps me meet new people and gives an instant point of connection for a conversation. When someone I meet discovers we are both knitters, it's like we're in a special kind of club and we're instant friends. I bet this is true of other hobbies, too. Do you feel like you're in a club when you meet someone who shares your hobby?

Here's some information to help you get started if you, too, are interested in learning to knit. Below are some how to videos and helpful websites, and on the right are some suggested books and even a slideshow of my own knitting projects.
