The guide to waterskiing and extreme activities

Kite Skiing

Kite skiing is a relatively recent development of skiing where the pull comes from a kite. It can be done on water, snow, land or ice. Kite skiing on water can be done with different kind of skis, therefore it may be compared with water skiing or with wakeboarding. Kite skiing on land uses specialized grass skis or sand skis.

Indoor Skydiving

A vertical wind tunnel (VWT) is a wind tunnel which moves air up in a vertical column. It is a recreational wind tunnel, frequently advertised as "indoor skydiving" or "bodyflight". It is also a popular training tool for skydivers.

Vertical wind tunnels enable human beings to fly in air without planes or parachutes, through the force of wind being generated vertically. Wind moves upwards at approximately 195 km/h (120 mph or 55 m/s), the terminal velocity of a falling human body belly-downwards, although this can vary from person to person. A vertical wind tunnel is frequently called 'indoor skydiving' due to the popularity of vertical wind tunnels among skydivers, who report that the sensation is extremely similar to skydiving. The human body 'floats' in midair in a vertical wind tunnel, and this is called 'bodyflight' or 'body flight'.

Zorbing

Zorbing (globe-riding, sphereing, orbing) is the recreation of rolling downhill in an orb, generally made of transparent plastic. Zorbing is generally performed on a gentle slope, but can also be done on a level surface, permitting more rider control. In the absence of hills some operators have constructed inflatable, wooden or metal ramps. There are two types of orbs, harnessed and non-harnessed. Non-harness orbs carry up to three riders, while the harness orbs are constructed for one to two riders. Double-harness spheres have different slope requirements, and must only be operated in specific locations. The longer runs are approximately half a mile. The first zorbing site was established in Rotorua, New Zealand, by David Akers and Andrew Akers.

Land Sailing

Land sailing, also known as sand yachting or land yachting, is the act of moving across land in a wheeled vehicle powered by wind through the use of a sail. The term comes from analogy with (water) sailing. Historically, land sailing was used as a mode of transportation or recreation. Since the 1950s it has evolved primarily into a racing sport.

Flat Kite Water Skiing

Before the hang glider and the new parachute like kites, waterskiers used a flat kite to fly above the water.  Older versions were dangerous and did not have a harness.  Newer versions are still dangerous but have a harness to make it easier.

Kite Surfing

Kite skiers can get great air and ride for a long time in the air.

Zorbing

Zorbing is the new craze in the states and it is now an attraction in Wisconsin Dells.

Indoor Skydiving

Indoor skydiving is popping up all over the country.  Wouldn't it be great to experience flight without having to jump out of a plane?
